When I was in college and studying graphic design, I remember praying about this as a career choice. I did well in school and I thought that meant I should go into a medical field or something overtly helpful for the community. Every time, I got the same response: Follow your passion. I'm thinking, "Okay, God, but how will graphic design HELP people?" 

After over 16 years in the professional design world, I can say with certainty that I was wrong. Not only is design beautiful, it is also informative: both things I'd argue are extremely helpful to everyone! In 2017, I was given the opportunity to be the social media manager for my parish. It grew into managing and redesigning their website, livestreaming Mass, designing a new logo, creating an ecommerce website for Faith Formation registration, and working with various departments to create a cohesive brand and message. As a parishioner, I can see the impact my work has on the community, and how my work reflects the spirit of our church and encourages fellowship and participation. To say it's fulfilling is an understatement.
